Revenge. That’s the plan. Get revenge on Morgane for her actions in Blood & Honey. But that is put on hold when Lou becomes possessed by witch Nicolina. Everything else is put on hold while the group works to free Lou, while Lou also wages her own battle in her mind. 

Not only is Lou possessed and Morgane still out there, but a major betrayal changes the tide. On top of all this, Reid has erased his memory of Lou, so he has no recollection of their history together. But everyone is trying their damnedest to succeed against the evil in the world, even in the face of overwhelming odds. 

When everyone’s efforts culminate in a final confrontation, a significant sacrifice must still be made. It is up to the heroes and heroines to decide if the sacrifice is worth it.

If we are keeping track here…

Book 1: Yes!

Book 2: Meh.

Book 3: Yes!

Given that I loved book one and didn’t really care for book two, I was worried how this one would play out. Final conclusion: It was good! 

The beginning starts off with the main characters going on an adventure and they all join together on a mission. They bond. Their relationships develop. Etc. It also wraps up some of the questions from the cliff hanger at the end of book two. 

The whole book reads as one big adventure. Maybe that’s not the best descriptor. But the whole of the book is the main characters seeking a final goal and traversing the land to get there. Of course, we still have all the character development that comes with the final book in a series, so that was nice as well. 

Overall, this book is well written. There are ups and downs, twists and turns, shock and awe. Of all the books, the first one is clearly the best but this one is a great read. The series wraps up beautifully.

P.S. THE EPILOGUE?! *sniff sniff* So beautiful.
