Once Upon a Broken Heart #3

By Stephanie Garber

TheStory

After having her memories erased by Apollo himself, Evangeline finds herself awoken and being fed lies straight from Apollo’s dirty, conniving little mouth and manipulating her into thinking they are in love and Jacks is out to get her.

She tries to regain her memories, Apollo is a tool, everyone tries to kill her, and Jacks tries to stay away. The end.

TheReview

Well, everything is just terrible and everything that can go wrong does. It has the perspective of Evangeline, Apollo, and Jacks. And everything sucks for everyone all the time. The whole book is really a battle for true love. Which is cute. But I NEVER GOT MY ROMANCE! It’s all a battle to be together but there is literally barely a smidgen of actual romance. Not even a smidgen. Not a pinch. Not a poof.

I also have questions. Like how did the curse end up the way it did (can’t say how it ended for spoilers) but how did that happen? And what about the APPLES?! Rude. And what about his long life and her humanity? I mean really. Give a girl some closure.

I mean, the series was a decent story but it just lacked the depth and heart I’m looking for. The second book was the best of the series and this ending just did not resonate with me. It seemed a little slapped together. Maybe if I was a teenager and hadn’t read a whole lot of books, it would have been better for me, but as it stands, it was not nearly enough.
