All of our characters are faced with the consequences of their psychotic (IMHO) decisions from book 4. Everyone is now just trying to figure how to live in this bleaker, sadder, meaner world - all while trying to avoid their numerous enemies.

Following the absolute SHYTE SHOW (IMHO) that was the ending of book four, everyone is just trying to keep it together after ripping our hearts out of our chests and stomping on them.

So, the first third of the book isn’t boring. More like entrancing. I didn’t even realize how far I’d read.

Basically Darius and Tory dealing with their fallout from their Divine Moment (UUUUGH!!) and Orion and Darius dealing with the fallout from New Year’s Eve.

About 1/3 of the way through, it starts. to. go. dooooown.

Without spoilers can we just *EEK* over Darius’ mom?!

And Xavier?!

And everything Tory does?!

And Lance?!?!?!

And Diego?!

Just shocker on shocker on shocker and I have whiplash now.

It’s nice actually seeing the Heirs and the twins have a common goal or three. They are so strong together and seeing them work against their same enemy is dope. Like the enemy of their enemy is their friend. And their relationship development is so wonderful.

Well… just like book 4, which ripped my entire soul to shreds and then threw it down a garbage disposal, this book’s ending is so EFFED. It wasn’t as overall devastating but it is such a crapshoot.

I’m still mad.

And still in love with every single part of it.

The authors’ ability to make me want to rip my hair out and throw my book across the room is uncanny.

I’m traipsing my way over to book 6 right now…
