In Obitraes, adopted human daughter of the vampire Nightborn King Vincent, Oraya, enters a deadly contest, the Kejari, in order to receive a blessing from the goddess Nyaxia.

Oraya ends up pairing with powerful vampire, Raihn, hailing from a so-called rebel sect of vampires in order to survive the contest.

I was immediately immersed in the world of Obitraes. Broadbent does a fantastic job of bringing in relevant information about the world when it’s necessary and not overloading the reader.

Nothing seems forced or confusing as the reader dips their toes into this world.

Raihn and Oraya’s relationship gives me major ACOTAR vibes (Rhys and Feyre) mixed with a little Serpent & Dove (Reid and Lou). But it still holds its own uniqueness, not seeming derivative at all.

I am. here. for. It.

They seem destined to be enemies - vampire and human - but the draw between the two is intoxicating to follow. 

And the ending. is. just. fire. All the feels.

Carissa Broadbent may be my new favorite author. I loved the writing, style, story telling, world building, relationship dynamics. Goodbye while I head straight for the next book!
