TheStory

Undercover DEA agent Thomas Gallo has formed a trusting friendship with Roxy, a stripper born and raised in the motorcycle club. After finally bringing down the Sun Devils MC, Thomas quits his job as a DEA agent.

When he leaves his undercover life, he has to decide whether to leave Roxy to fend for herself or bring her with him into his life. Either choice has consequences but both him and Roxy have to decide if the potential fallout is worth it.

Conflicted. That’s how I feel about this book. It was a real up and down for me. At certain points, it was great, but then, at other points, it was bad. There were definitely parts that I loved but also parts that I found myself wanting to skip. The action could have been more actiony and the heart-to-hearts could have been more heart-to-heartsy.

Originally, I was most excited for this one. A kickass DEA agent and a down-on-her-luck stripper?! Come on! That makes for a romance in and of itself. But this one did not hit.

Thomas is a great character and we get a great feel for him as a person, a man, and an undercover agent. His life, his struggles, his demons, his heart, are all laid bare for the reader. But Angel? Chelle Bliss did Angel dirty by not remotely expanding on her character. The idea was there but the execution was poor. Imagination was my best friend when reading about Angel - just filling in the gaps myself.

My desire to love this book was there but it just didn’t deliver. It was a decent book but not up there with the other books in the series.
