While sobbing into some nachos outside a taco shop, Josephine Carmichael is approached by Nick Gallo. After initially trying to ignore the sobbing woman, Nick caves and tries to help her out. Not realizing that she is a famous celebrity, he invites her to stay at his place for a few days, during which everything gets turned upside down.

The beginning goes back five years back to Blaze (Men of Inked: Heatwave #5) when Nick was first introduced at Lily’s house. Chapter 2 skips ahead to the current time. And the last chapter jumps ahead five more years.
With that little tidbit out of the way, let’s talk about the story!

Both Nick and Jo are beyond fiery. They have such good banter right from the beginning. She doesn’t want his insertion (pun intended) into her life and he doesn’t want her mess. But of course, the intertwining of their lives ends up being wonderfully adorable. Sort of an enemies to lovers vibe but with a twist.

I. LOVE. NICK. He might be my favorite male character out of all three series so far. Which is saying something because Mammoth has had my heart. Nick is so sassy and I love Jo for him because she can give it all right back to him. And he can take it in stride. Both of their character backgrounds and development were so well done. I love everything about them.

There were surprises and twists and turns at every… turn. The whole book is filled with drama and maintains a really good flow. It didn’t feel forced at all.

The ending is a cliff hanger for the family (not Nick and Jo) which is setting up for the next book.

This one hits in my top favorites of the series. I’m super into these two characters. The writing was so good. Character development on point. It just checked all my personal little boxes and gave me the warm fuzzies.
