*A Game of Gods is Hades’ perspective during A Touch of Malice*
TheStory
Persephone and Hades are now engaged but are facing a different sort of war. Persephone’s mother, in a rage against the engagement, encompasses New Greece in an endless blizzard. The public is torn between support for the couple and siding with Demeter.
Amidst the chaos, a terrorist group emerges and a war between the gods is looming. With threats emerging from every direction, Persephone must choose between her love, her mother’s demands, and protecting the lives of those she loves.
TheReview
Okay, these books were everything I could want when reading a series. I could not stop readinggg! These were hands down the best in the series but I haven’t read A Touch of Chaos yet. It will have a lot to live up to.
So in this book, we get other perspectives throughout the whole thing. Hades’, Persephone’s, and Dionysus’ POVs were a joy to read. But oh my goodness. Theseus’ perspective was rough to get through. He is a disgusting sociopath and a sadist. Sometimes I even had to skim his chapters because I just didn’t want to get into his head. However, that did make me hate him, which I assume was the point.
The character development was phenomenal. There are so many more characters that become a main plot point in this one. Because of the different storylines that are essential and the main threats being so intense, the book had a fast-paced plot. It was just one thing after another, surprising me all the time.
Most importantly… the ending! Woof. I had chills. It was a nail-biter for sure. Thank God that A Touch of Chaos is already out because I need to go read it IMMEDIATELY!
TheTandemRead
As far as the tandem read, I’m conflicted if I’d recommend it for these two. Obviously (from previous reviews), I’m a fan of tandem reading books with the same timeline, but this one was so hard to stop and switch between. Sometimes I accidentally read through the stopping points because I didn’t even realize I’d hit that point.
So I don’t know if I would necessarily recommend reading these ones in Tandem. It might keep you more in the story if you read each one individually.
