Hades x Persephone #4 (or #7 is also reading Hades Saga)
By Scarlett St. Clair
*Read after Hadex x Persephone #1-3 and Hades Saga #1-3*
*A Touch of Chaos can be Hades x Persephone #4 or #7 if also reading Hades Saga*
TheStory
Our beloved Hades has been captured by demigod Theseus - the sociopathic sadist. Persephone’s main priority is rescuing him. But for the world at large, the gods and mortals are plunged into a war ignited by Theseus himself. Now everyone, gods and mortals alike, must choose a side.
Persephone has been crowned Queen of the Underworld, but now must navigate betrayal while fighting to protect the realms and rescue Hades. In order to fulfill all her goals, Persephone must now embrace her darker side as Queen of the Underworld and go to war in order to protect her loved ones.
TheReview
Written from the perspectives of Persephone, Hades, Dionysus, and Theseus, each scene is told from the perspective of only one character. There is so much happening in different areas of the world, often simultaneously, so the different POVs give us a pretty comprehensive view of the war.
*Side Note:* Theseus’ POV was just as vomit-inducing as it was in A Game of Gods.
While the other books focused heavily on the relationships - Hades and Persephone, Dionysus and Ariadne, Theseus and Phaedra, etc . - A Touch of Chaos is heavily war focused. Normally, this is a turn off for me but the whole book was so well written that I was entranced from start to finish.
It was just one exciting plot after another. There were twists and turns everywhere. Usually I can see the "surprises" coming in books I read, but this one had a few that pleasantly surprised me. It’s extremely fast paced, without lingering too long on superfluous details that don’t really matter.
What a fantastic conclusion to the whole series.
Highly recommend reading Hades x Persephone in tandem with Hades Saga (see other reviews for details on how) and finishing off this phenomenal world with A Touch of Chaos.
*Mini Spoiler:* I feel like this is just good to know going in - There is one relatively graphic rape scene in comparison to the “fade-out” abuse that has been alluded to in previous books.
