After being kidnapped, Addie is sent to a grooming house where she is abused in every way. Zade spends months trying to track her down before he finally gets a lead. 

The rescue is great but Addie’s subsequent recovery is a long road and Zade isn’t always the best at helping the process along. But their obsession with each other could be what ultimately brings her peace.

The first half of the book is Adeline being held captive and Zade looking for her. Which is waaayyy drawn out. But it did show how god-awful everything was for her. The whole of her captivity is seriously traumatic. But I was prepared for how awful it would be. The abuse is really bad but there were only about three really awful, complete r*pe scenes (I say only because I was expecting more),  and I skipped them completely.

Zade’s rescue was annoyingly anti-climactic for me. It was simple and quick. Immediately after her rescue are several short time jumps which speed along her recovery and really show her character development after all the trauma. She ends up being quite the little badass. 

Zade is a baby angel during MOST of it but I do not forget that he has fully assaulted her and honestly, even during her recovery some of his responses were rough. It had me all kinds of conflicted. I guess there are just things that I love about Zade but other things I can’t get past. Even in a fictitious world, I just don’t get it. 

It was a really tough read because of the length of time she was captured. But I think her survival story and how Zade is part of that was the point? I just think the author NEEDS to address what the book is ACTUALLY about - r*pe fantasy, an abusive partner, trauma, etc. 

The ending wrapped everything up well. Glad I read it but SO glad I’m done with it. 

P.S. Sibby was a freaking weird addition and I just didn’t get the point of her.
