Pen Pal

By J.T. Geissinger

TheStory

After her husband’s death, Kayla starts receiving letters from a pen pal in prison claiming to know her. On top of that, her house is falling apart. Oh, and it’s seemingly haunted.

When Aiden, the owner of a roofing company, comes by to fix her roof, he ends up getting more than he bargained for. After she flees her house in terror, she ends up on Aiden’s doorstep and the two connect on a soul deep level.

But there are sinister events at work and Kayla is overwhelmed, overstimulated, and paranoid.

TheReview

WOOF! This is a difficult book to review without spoilers… but I’ll try.

First and foremost, DO NOT LOOK AT ANY SPOILERS or it will ruin the entire read.

I’ll start by saying… the prison guy letters = creepy. Aiden = sweet baby angel man. Kayla = poor, sad, scared woman.

I was seriously confused how Dante - the prison pen pal - was going to fit into the story. And how her relationship with Aiden was going to manifest. And how Kayla was going to get over her husband’s death. But in a BANGER of an ending, I was pleasantly satisfied with how it all worked out.

Now, I was fully and deeply connected to our MCs. Their relationship was so stinking beautiful and gut wrenching. And their BANTER?! Everything. Just. Everything.

But I could not get into the spice at all! It just did not vibe with me. The “little bunny” thing threw me way off and I could never get over it.

I was so on the edge of my seat over the suspense stuff I just wanted them to stop having sex and freaking DEAL WITH YOUR MYSTERIES! I need answers, people! Not much more can be said without spoilers.

This book will live rent free in my head forever. It is a perfect, beautiful, and jaw dropping paranormal suspense romance. So well written. I think the ending was the best ending to a book I’ve ever read… or at least in the top 5. I am so, so satisfied. My little book heart is so happy.
