TheStory

The fourth and final horseman comes to earth, deathing everyone all over the place. He is the last hope of bringing about the apocalypse and ending life on earth. Until an unlikely woman survives his power and chases after him in an attempt to stop his death rampage.

Lazarus runs after Death and attempts to kill him multiple times, just as he does to her. But neither of them is killable and therefore, they go round and round in murder attempts.

In the midst of their battles, Lazarus finds something more important to her than chasing Death and instead runs away from him. Death will not stand for this. She has intrigued him and he has to have her.

TheReview

Right on theme, this book is a wonderful enemies to lovers romance. And both characters actually murder each other… repeatedly. The swapped murders of each other was seriously entertaining.

The storyline feels more real than the others (as much as fantasy can) because they can actually fulfill their hatred for each other. And with the other horsemen joining in on the story, it brought the whole series together really well.

Death has such an odd sense of humor and (in my imagination) deadpans everything hilariously. Unlike the other horsemen, he truly had not indulged in human experiences whatsoever. So, everything is his first time, and the way all of that unravels is hilarity.

About halfway through, there is a big twist, which seemed a little strange but it did add to the story really well. And you sort of find out why later if you pay attention. That sounded confusing but it’s hard to talk about without spoilers. It definitely made Death seem like a total tool but… he is one… so…

I loved this book, and the series as a whole. Overall, each one had its perks, but overall it was a little repetitive - horseman must murder, human woman must try to stop it, they fall in love, etc. etc. But all around, it was an enjoyable series and it had some seriously fun and enjoyable parts all throughout.
