The Four Horsemen #3

By Laura Thalassa

*Can be read as a standalone*

TheStory

Famine, the Third Horseman of the Apocalypse, is rescued from torture by Ana, a young woman who happened to be out the road one night. Five years later, the two run into each other again but the relationship is anything but amicable.

Following similar lines of the other horsemen, the two end up traveling together but continually get into dicey situations.

TheReview

Love a good backstory to the relationship. It’s nice having some information as to why the two are drawn together in the current time period. It was wild seeing the difference between the first time Famine met Ana and the way they are now. As per usual with the horsemen, Famine is a total butt muncher and Ana is just sweet and damaged.

Really, it’s sweet because Ana used to be a prostitute but Famine doesn’t shame her for that and she isn’t woe-is-me about it. It’s just accepted as part of her tortured past. Ana is also hilarious because she is just constantly making sex jokes and innuendos that make Famine so ridiculously uncomfortable.

I absolutely loved this book because of its humor and the backstory and character development. Everything worked together, adding the different elements seamlessly into a natural flow. It seemed more organic that Famine would want to keep Ana alive, as opposed to the other horsemen and their woman. The ending really kicked up my anticipation for the last book in the series, Death. Do we get any more morally corrupt than a being named Death?!
