Reckless
Chestnut Springs #4
By Elsie Silver
*Can be read as a stand alone, however, Winter is Summer’s stepsister (from the first book in this series). So you may want to at least read that one, if not all the previous ones because she pops up throughout them.*
TheStory
Escaping an abusive marriage, Winter flees to Chestnut Springs to start a new life. Unexpectedly, she runs into Theo Silva, a cocky, fun-loving bull rider. After a one-night stand and a miscommunication, Winter discovers she’s pregnant but attempts to keep the pregnancy a secret. Which does not go over well.
When Winter tries to end things with Theo, he can’t help but relentlessly pursue her. He is thrilled by her sassy, quick-witted attitude. When he discovers the pregnancy, he and Winter are forced to navigate their feelings and work on their relationship, all while preparing for the coming baby.
TheReview
Winter is such a snooty, belittling little minx. Theo is known as a ladies man and he’s cocky as hell. In a pleasant surprise, it was not the classic tale one might think going in.
While Winter is a huge witch in the previous books, we get to see her soften and discover another side to her personality. She is not the “ice queen” everyone deems her to be. We get an in-depth look into her character, which is much more nuanced than it seems on the surface. I absolutely fell in love with her in this book.
On that note, Theo is my new favorite man of the series. His clap backs to Winter, the banter between the two, and his overall attitude is sooooo endearing. He just loves to rile up Winter and he is so freaking good at it. I just love his personality.
There weren’t any major shocks or twists. While it was still fairly predictable, it has been hands-down my favorite book in the series so far. Winter and Theo are two of my favorite characters that I’ve read in a contemporary romance. That is saying something because I don’t even like unexpected pregnancy as a way of pushing characters together.
Their relationship was beautiful. The writing was fire. The wit was on point. I thought about this story for days after I finished it. That puts it in a five-star category for me.
