TheStory
When Sloane calls off her wedding, she turns to childhood friend Jasper. The two go on a spontaneous road trip together, during which they confront their long-held feelings for each other.
Jasper has always been dark and broody. Sloane has always been a ray of sunshine in his life. As the two enter adulthood, Sloane’s life falls apart regarding a called-off wedding and Jasper has a troubled past. During their roadtrip, alongside confronting their feelings for one another, they also work through their personal struggles.
As their relationship evolves from friendship to romance, Jasper and Sloane learn about love, self-worth, and healing.
TheReview
Now, I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of the set up for this book - friends-to-lovers, grumpy/sunshine, etc. However, I would just like to *SWOON* over a broody, sad boy.
Jasper - 10/10. He has so many feelings. And they're sad. He’s not satisfied or comfortable with his life or his image. He doesn’t fit into the classic star athlete picture. What we have here is a mixed up little ball of pent up emotion. And we are HERE FOR IT!
Let’s talk Sloane. She was just not it for me. She’s the “sunshine” part of this grumpy/sunshine romance but she just didn’t sit well with me. I could be biased because I’m not a grumpy/sunshine fan to begin with, but Sloane’s personality lacked depth for me. And obviously I’m obsessed with emo boy Jasper, so I think he could do better. Like me. He could do better with me.
It wasn’t my favorite read but the love story was sweet-ish. Not as well written as the other books in this series. The storyline didn’t totally do it for me… but Jasper’s dark broodiness… I live for that crap. So I liked the story better because of him. He deserved to find love and happiness. So, not the best book but Jasper is a god.
