Heartless
Chestnut Springs #2
By Elsie Silver
*Can be read as a standalone*
TheStory
Hard-working, single dad Cade hires a high-spirited bartender-turned-nanny for his son. Thus, a forbidden romance ensues. A classic tale.
Once the two start spending time together during late nights, Cade’s rough exterior begins to crack and Willa realizes there is a softer side to this single dad.
Willa is 13 years younger than Cade, but the forced proximity pushes them into a romance they can’t deny. As the two spend time together, their relationship evolves from employer/employee to romantically involved.
But it isn’t just their hearts involved - Cade’s son and family play an important role in this dynamic.
TheReview
Another trope fest, anyone? Grumpy/sunshine. Forced proximity. Age-gap. Single-dad. Anymore and it might just be too much. As for me and my blog house, we love the tropeness!
From the very beginning, this book had me actually laughing out loud. It had all the fun, good parts of writing - witty banter, family jokes, and all around quick wit from the characters. The storyline might be a little derivative, but it was still well done.
I loved watching Willa and Cade learn about each other and soften towards one another. It combined the sweetness of family with the dirtiness of a spicy relationship. It was a great mix of the two sides of a relationship that also involves other family members and a kid in the picture.
