This “novella” (using the term loosely because it is a full sized book) follows the path of those that have passed beyond the Veil up to book 8. It tracks along the same timeline as book 8.

We watch those beyond the Veil dealing with the afterlife and watching those in the Fae realm still living.

Quick note - you could read this book alongside Sorrow and Starlight (book 8), since the timelines are the same.

Some scenes seem a little superfluous. But the characters we know (or know of) are a joy to see in the Veil. Also seeing how it works gives some good context to some of the stuff from book 8. Much of it is a repeat of book 8 scenes but from the perspective of the deceased.

While it covers a loooooot of book 8 from a different perspective, there is a BIG reveal at the end that is important to book 9. Wouldn’t necessarily recommend as necessary for the series as a whole but chapter 1 heals your heart a little after the dumpster fire ending of book 8 and the last chapter seems important for the next book in the series.

Wouldn’t majorly recommend unless maybe you did a tandem read alongside book 8. I feel like that would have been really good. If not the whole thing, the first chapter will be good for your soul and last chapter prepares you for book 9.

P.S. WHAT is with Felisia’s long, drawn out, irrelevant story time?! Is it important later? Was it supposed to make me feel things? Am I missing someone? Because that whole side story was a draaaaaag and I couldn’t STAND IT!
