Beginning when The Bridge Kingdom was invaded, Keris and Zarrah meet under the cloak of night, both of their identities hidden. Upon discovering they are both heirs to rival nations, Zarrah and Keris are immediately thrust into the politics of their warring kingdoms.

But they have left a mark on each other that cannot be ignored. However, no matter their desire for each other, their nations, their wars, and their paths will not only tear them apart, but test them in every way imaginable.

It is a very slow start but it does a great job of building up the MCs relationship. They really changed each other at their core levels. Well… Keris may have been changed but not necessarily all for the better, IMHO. And their identities were revealed much sooner than I anticipated and the resulting fallout broke my HEART!

While I absolutely loved reading this book, it was very slow. It’s more focused on the issues at hand surrounding their relationship than anything else. It’s heavy in political strategy and deceit and double agents all over the place. It’s really difficult to follow. But even without fully understanding the politics, the story is still incredible. And also horrifying.

I also just feel the need to mini rant about the fact that this book was not funny at all. No funny banter or anything. Not a big deal but I love a little sass.

Loved it. It was a challenge because of the insane amount of stratagems involved but it was a really interesting read. Just a bit hard to follow. Much less romantic than anticipated but the parts that are romance focused are SO BEAUTIFUL.
