Unable to forgive her atrocity, Aren tries to leave her behind him, but that’s easier said than done. The two will have to work together for the good of Ithicana, but the rest of their relationship may not be long for this world.

THE BETRAYAL! THE LIES! THE BREATBREAK! This book had my heart being constantly ripped out of my chest right alongside my gut wrenching inside of my body. Aren is so angry and so broody. Some of the things he says to Lara full on broke my heart. Lara is understandably distraught at her own actions but rather than wallow, she tries to atone – and atone without getting anything in return. Beautiful creatures. I’m obsessed with them! Why aren’t more people obsessed with them?

As for the storyline, of course it was still battle-focused, and politic-heavy. But I repeat from the last book – just the right amount of romance and tension to make me love every minute of it all. Although the focus was on the world and all the politics involved, Aren and Lara are still the heart and soul of the book. Stayed very true to the first one, which I enjoyed. Same vibes as The Bridge Kingdom.

I loved this book just as much as the first one. Kept true to the storyline and the soul of the book – Aren and Lara’s relationship. Just as full of witty banter, heartbreak, tensiony-filled romance, and just a dash of spice. I’m just so in love with this whole story.
