When her fratboy boyfriend cheats on her, Anastasia and one of her ex’s frat brothers make a pact to get revenge on him. College football star River has always had a thing for Anastasia. So he’s more than happy to follow through on this plan. However, this secret pact is not as simple as it seems when the lines blur between revenge and love.

While Anastasia’s ex cheated on her, River is actually friends with him and they are in the same frat house. So, the revenge pact makes sense but River actually falling for Anastasia is a whole other story. To add to the central theme - the romance - there are also family issues and River struggles with a learning disability.

Okay, so this was sold to me as an “enemies-to-lovers” romance. Which it is not. River was already into her before anything even happened. On top of that, they enter into this pact both agreeing to it. They both just think the other hates them but neither one actually does. I might buy that they don’t necessarily like each other completely and they are two very different people, but not enemies. They aren’t enemies especially given that River was already into her while she was dating his friend. 

Anastasia is an outsider and River is a football star, so they come from two different worlds and since Anastasia is River’s friend’s ex, it is definitely a forbidden romance.

I’m not normally a fan of sports romances… frankly, I don’t even really understand how it’s a whole genre. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I read half the book in three hours. I couldn’t stop. It was a great read in between the large, heavy series that I normally gravitate towards.

Both of the MCs’ points of view were fun to read. It’s really well written and I totally fell in love with the characters. It was an enjoyable storyline, great writing, and lovely characters.
