Men of Inked: Heatwave #2

By Chelle Bliss

Reading Order Timeline for the three Men of Inked Series:

  1. Men of Inked (original)

  2. Men of Inked: Southside (Chicago)

  3. Men of Inked: Heatwave (the second generation)

*Not a standalone - technically a duet with Flame (Men of Inked: Heatwave #1)*

TheStory

Continuing on from Flame, Burn starts off right where Gigi was attacked. When Pike storms in, they discover the attacker is his own father, Colton Moore. Gigi’s family comes to take care of him, but more danger is just around the corner for Pike and Gigi.

After learning about a tragedy back in Pike’s hometown that he left behind him, Pike and Gigi head back to Tennessee. Upon discovering the results of leaving his brother behind, Pike and Gigi have some tough decisions to make. Their one goal - protect those they love at all costs.

TheReview

What a whirlwind of danger and love - just like the last book. Pike and Gigi just can’t seem to get a moment of peace in their lives. Which keeps things interesting, for sure.

Although he is all alpha male, Pike still lets Gigi be herself. While it shouldn’t be some amazing revelation, with all the alpha MCs running around, that was nice. Their interactions are wonderful and I repeat - Pike is aaaalllll the things we love.

But then he also just breaks your heart! His past is so sad and the revelations that he comes to about that is heart wrenching.

Now, maybe I’m getting old (is 29 old yet?), but Gigi and Tamara are so annoying in this book. Like do they not understand the life and death and danger lurking everywhere?! I know they are in their early 20s, but they’ve also grown up surrounded by badass dudes and their own fathers. So shouldn’t they have some semblance of common sense? But alas, they do not.

I just can’t get over the fact that Pike - badass, had to raise himself, never been loved tortured soul - is that obsessed with fresh-out-of-college, naive Gigi. That being said… I’m obsessed with them. Pike just wants to soak up all of her goodness and Gigi is just loving him for who he is.

This book is definitely more focused on the life-or-death stuff than the spiciness that Bliss normally delivers. However, I do love the switch up from the last book to this book.

Burn was certainly action packed and adventure filled. It was very well written and a wonderful continuation of Flame. Just like the last book, this one cannot be read as a standalone. Most of these series’ books are one offs but Flame and Burn read as a duet.
