During an MC gunfight in a church parking lot, The Fallen MC president, Zeus, saves seven-year-old Lou from a gunshot.

Over the next decade or so, she writes her “guardian monster” letters and he responds back. At 17, Lou is diagnosed with cancer and decides to take a walk on the dark side - and Zeus won’t let her do it without him there to protect her.

Obviously, this is an age gap romance. NOW, if that isn’t your jam, move along. That being said, I LOVE an age gap romance but the 17 to 36 was a little creepy, given that Zeus knew Lou when she was 7.

Attention Authors! It can still be an age gap at 20 and 39. Or 22 and 41. Or even 25 and 44. Must it be a teenager? Whyyyyyy? Side note, the age of consent in the state this takes place is 16 but still… whyyyyy?

Now with that very clear aspect discussed, I still loved the book. It was so good. I loved the storyline. I loved the drama. I loved the surprises. It was amazing!

Zeus is a good guy who fell in love with the woman he protected a decade ago. And he tried not to. But alas! He failed.

The letters when she’s a kid are definitely a little creepy but you kind of have to just believe that he’s not being creepy. He’s trying to be nice. Totally get how people can be creeped out though.

Also, I didn’t buy that everyone in the MC just loooooves her and thinks she’s sooooo amazing and perfect for Zeus.

Ultimately, knowing what this book was gonna be when I picked it up, I read it from the perspective of being OK with the 17-year-old part of it. Therefore, it was a really good story. It was sweet and dirty and dark and beautiful. So many things had me screaming, laughing, aww-ing, and swooning. Loved it.
