A Court of Thorns and Roses #3

By Sarah J. Maas

TheStory

After “willingly” submitting to going back to the Spring Court with Tamlin and Lucien, Feyre works to undermine the court, discover Hybern’s plans, and bring Tamlin and Hybern to their knees. One wrong move could mean the end of her life, and the end of the world as they know it.

As war surrounds them and alliances are tentative at best, Feyre must learn to control her powers, play the politics game, and balance her role in this new world with her friends and family.

TheReview

If you’ve read A Court of Mist and Fury, this review shouldn’t have any spoilers.

The first 100 pages or so, were Feyre lying her butt off in the Spring Court. And, boy, was it a master class in corruption and deceit. I loved every minute of it. Because every single one of those little pricks deserved everything she did to them. She was a messy monster and we are here. for. it. Just in this first part, we got twists, turns, surprises, and revelations. Very action packed.

Once Feyre left the Spring Court (because obviously, she did), the action picked up all the more. This could arguably be the most interesting of the trilogy, considering that there is so much going on. But that depends on how much you like action and war versus romance and relationships.

There was quite a lull in the book once the setting switched over to the Night Court. It was still a good read, but not much of a page turner. There were spurts of action and some of my favorite scenes in the series, but it was very war-centered.

Around page 350, the book got back into a more interesting rhythm - not necessarily can’t-put-it-down exciting, but more interesting, for sure.

The meeting with the High Lords was potentially the most hilarious scene in the entire series. I was crying laughing. So much drama and sass! From here on out, it was basically war strategy, planning, battles, fighting, etc.

The last few chapters are heartbreaking, breathtaking, and wonderful. They are the best part of the book. It was a phenomenal close to the main series.

While this book is certainly not the best in the series (see A Court of Mist and Fury review), this ending is the reason to read it. To get that closure from the series and thus begin your book hangover recovery.
