Max, Tisaanah, and their cohort return to Ara only to find it in the midst of a chaotic war. Tissanah is bound by her blood pact to Zeryth. Max is tied by his love for Tisannah. And both of them have to conquer in the name of the horrible King of Ara. But when a betrayal compromises everything, Tissanah must do the unthinkable to regain the victory. 

While Tissanah gambles with power and lives, Max is forced to confront the past he wants to forget and his own magic. As the two become entangled in magic and secrets, they must decide what they are willing to sacrifice.

Ooooooh… now we have Fey! The creatures long thought to be extinct are back, baby! And so now we are following two storylines - Max and Tissanah as well as Caduan (a Fey whose people were murdered by humans) and Aefe (a Fey “unfit” to rule due to her tainted blood). 

I immediately fell in love with Caduan and Aefe. It takes just a hot minute to catch onto their storyline. But when you do… you just call in love with them. Then, everything gets absolutely wild on both sides of the stories.

Truly, I think that this could have been two books. Surprising, because I am never a fan of dragging out a series. But every time that I got wrapped up in one storyline, it switched to the other one. It was like being jerked around from one side to the other. 

BUT THEN…

My mind. was. blown. Holy smokes. The two stories mesh together in the most WILD of ways. This caught me completely off guard. I dropped my Kindle when the stories came together. 

The last nearly quarter of the book is very chaotic and drawn out. However, the what’s-what and the who’s-who all comes together in the most INSANE connection. I was thrown for such a crazy loop and taken on the most wild ride. I freaking loved every minute of this.

All that being said, it is very confusing and a little tiresome at some points. I can be objective… It becomes less about the love story and more about the connections of the two storylines coming together to set up for the next book. Very good but very tumultuous.
