I truly thought this book was going to be more juvenile than anything. I wasn't planning on even reading the whole thing (just peek at the preview) but that’s only because I didn’t plan on it being SO DOPE.
It starts off really pushing character background (but it’s a 300 page romance so we don’t have all the time in the world… I get it).
James is traumatized and evil and Wendy is innocent and desperate for validation. The standard. And the way he TALKS TO HER?! *swoon* He is dad-dy vi-bes. And he’s actually a bad dude but like not for her.
While it was tropey sometimes, it wasn’t all predictable nor the same old thing I always read. It was super well written. Why are more people not talking about this?! It’s beautiful!

All the Peter Pan references were so fun! Obviously Hook, Wendy, and Peter. But also Tina Bell. The Jolly Roger. Straight on ‘til morning. Smee. And the list goes on. So fun to see all the little things that made it Peter Pan-esque. Some of it was really hilarious.
I am in love with this book. And James. And Emily McIntire. And everything about reading this. It was dark, and funny, and horrifying, and tummy flutter inducing.
