TheReview

This book has so much happening - it’s action throughout the entire thing.

Let’s talk storylines.

Bryce is trapped in the other world. And what a world it is. Poor Bryce has no idea who to trust or half of what is even going on. And the things she discovers - mind boggling. Hunt, Ruhn, and Baxian’s captivity is so intense to read, as well. Ithan’s and Tharion’s stories are just complete shyte shows throughout the whole entire book. But after everyone gets through their personal trials, the main goal of defeating the Asteri and saving Midgard moves right along.

As far as the focus of this one, it cuts waaaay down on romance and relationships. They aren’t gone but, for the most part, they take a back seat to all the action going on. It focuses much more on overthrowing the government and taking back the power to give it to the people - classic problem, but in a fantasy setting.

There were times where I couldn’t put it down but then some storylines lagged a bit (*cough cough* Ithan and Tharion).

Side note! Ithan is SUCH A  BABY. He is constantly making rash and dumb decisions and then crying about it. Honestly, same with Tharion. BE BETTER! Both of their storylines seemed somewhat disconnected from the rest of the drama until the end, when it all comes together… more or less.

Overall, it was a great book and a beautiful end to the (currently) completed series. But we all know how SJM is… I could foresee another book popping up here. As of now, it reads as a completed series. While this one was not my favorite in the series, it was a really good read and the series overall was phenomenal.
