Asking Layla Mousavi to pretend to be engaged to him was the only way Callum Fletcher could think to keep a crazy obsessive girl away from him. Even though Layla helped Callum one day while he was on the job, she does not date men in uniform anymore. After initially refusing his request, Layla ends up in a bind of her own, causing her to agree to say yes. 

Now both of them will have to deal with the small town gossip, the crazy woman, and their feelings, all while they navigate their new fake relationship.

A classic, small town, fake engagement romance without major plot twists. 

It’s a very cute, age-old story. 

Cal is a grumpy grump and it’s adorably easy for Layla to push his buttons. The two of them have cute chemistry and it flows throughout the book. 

There were a few parts that seemed kind of out of the blue. The first kiss. Cal’s temper. But it’s easy to look past those little odd moments because the story is so sweet. 

There isn’t much to say about the book other than that. It was just light and fun. 

As I said, no major plot twists. Nothing surprising. But that made it so simple, quick, and enjoyable to read. I was so relaxed the whole time I read the book. Coming off of reading an insane fantasy series that was 30% world building, this book was exactly what I needed to come down and enter a new world.
