King of Wrath

Kings of Sin #1

*Can be read as a standalone*

*Same world as Ana Huang’s Twisted series - recommend reading Twisted prior to Kings of Sin*

TheStory

Blackmail is never a good start to any relationship. But lying about blackmail? Even worse.

After Dante is blackmailed into marrying Vivian by her own father, he vows to deal with the threat… even if it means enduring the arrangement temporarily. As they reluctantly intertwine their lives, feelings emerge that could change the course of this forced marriage.

Lies, deceit, and life threatening circumstances never made for a happy ending. So, Dante now has to choose… revenge on his blackmailer or keeping the wife he never wanted and now never wants to lose.

TheReview

This was an amazing intro book to the series. I was wrapped up in the story the entire time I was reading it.

The relationship progression is great. The MCs legitimately hate each other and their situation but it evolves into so much more. And the evolution is at such a great, natural pace.

Both characters were dope. Good background. Great development. Likable personalities. (But we like Dante because he’s not likable, so that’s a bit of a thinker).

Vivian is trying to make the best out of the situation, so she tries to be amiable. Dante thinks it will end before the wedding, so he’s trying to stay away as much as possible. When Vivian plays nice and he wants nothing to do with her, he’s awful. It made for fun-to-read banter.

The only part I couldn’t really get into was the specific “bougie” descriptions - the name brands, the designers, etc. It worked for them but I just don’t understand any of it, so the specifics meant nothing to me.

Not too much spiciness, but when the spicy scenes spice… they spice

The title is perfectly embedded into the book - Dante has to decide between his automatic and overwhelming desire for wrath and vengeance over his desire for Vivian. And that’s his ultimate trial - the choice between wrath and love. (Which I’m assuming is going to be the theme throughout the series).

My tummy got all twisty during the last quarter of the book. It was so intimate and heartbreaking and beautiful. And the ending was wonderful! Their reconciliation was so honest and truthful.

“Vivian’s laugh evoked a strange sensation in my chest. Heartburn? Investigate later.” - Dante

“Love wasn’t always about the big moments. More often, it was tucked in the small moments connecting the major ones.”
