King of Greed
Kings of Sin #3
By Ana Huang
*Can be read as a standalone*
*Same world as Ana Huang’s Twisted series - recommend reading Twisted prior to Kings of Sin*
TheStory
After years of being treated as nothing more than an accessory in her own marriage, Alessandra decides it’s time to take back control of her life. When the final straw snaps her one-sided-commitment to her marriage, Ale starts taking back her control by leaving her husband, Dominic.
When Dominic comes home to an empty penthouse and a discarded wedding ring, realization dawns. His greatest mistake - prioritizing money and power over the love of his life - has ruined everything. The problem? He only realized after it was too late.
Now, Ale won’t be so easily persuaded to accept his platitudes after years of broken promises and always coming in second to his ambition. It’s up to Dominic to convince her that he has truly changed.
TheReview
Now, this book starts off immediately in the nitty gritty of Ale leaving Dom. But if you read the first two, it’s not a shock, cause others have seen it for a while. The others in the series aren’t necessarily necessary but they did show how unhappy Alessandra was and gave a smidgen of ancillary information.
The reconciliation is long and drawn out throughout the book. Dominic is doing everything he can to show Alessandra that he has changed but Ale has been too hurt too often over the years. I will give Dom this - he is Committed with a capital C.
Though, man, does it get repetitive. Dom is trying so hard. Ale is constantly letting him around, but unwilling to commit to anything. And rightfully so, but it’s a lot of back and forth - Dom doing, doing, doing and Ale rejecting, rejecting, rejecting.
It’s hard to feel bad for Dom when Ale is finally doing what is best for herself. But he doesn’t try to justify himself or his past actions. He just tries to do better. But he isn’t perfect, so he doesn’t just give her all the freedom, even though he tries. It was perfect for them and their story. Obviously, Dom is a possessive alpha-male, which is why we love these characters.
Now, the CLIMAX of the drama! Actually… it wasn’t all that climactic. It was just simple and sweet. The whole thing is a true second chance romance. It was just boring, in my opinion. The whole thing was focused on one specific thing - Dom getting Ale back and Ale exploring her freedom. There just should have been more aspects to the storyline to keep the reader hooked.
P.S. Roman and his little mystery story is SO coming back in later books. It has to. Because it wasn’t even fully resolved at the end of this one.
