Upon turning 18, Francesca is given by her father to the son of the Italian mafia’s capo. While the two quickly become friends, it is the capo - Fausto - who Francesca ends up becoming involved with.

But Fausto doesn’t marry and Francesca doesn’t want this life for herself. But when everything gets turned upside down and betrayals flow from both sides, neither Francesca nor Fausto can avoid the fall out.

The beginning gets straight into the thick of it, with Fausto and Francesca quickly falling in together. And rest is all about their relationship, boundaries, expectations, and the line. 

I loved that it seems very authentic. The culture, the mafia, the personalities of the MCs, all seem true to form. Granted, I’m not Italian or in the mafia but for a layperson, it seems more genuine than some of the other mafia romances I’ve read. 

Most of the book is about Fausto and Francesca’s relationship development but there is also so much drama in it!

Their back-and-forth banter is super good, too. I loved them. The side characters are a wonderful addition as well. 

It was such a good book. And the ending was a total cliffhanger. It’s just a duet so the next book will conclude their story and I am dying for it!
