Being forced to move back in with her dad is not Kendra’s idea of adulting properly. So she decides that she’s going to have one more night of freedom on the way to her dad’s house. When she stops in at a bar near town, she meets Luther.

Fulfilling a desire of hooking up with a much older man, a 24-year age gap to be specific, the two hoop up in a steamy one night stand. But when Kendra awakens for dinner with her dad and his best friend, she realizes that her dad’s best friend - “Rocky” - is also her one night stand, Luther.

Regardless of the taboo of it, the two continue to seek each other out, regardless of the consequences or issues that could arise.

While I wouldn’t classify this book as a “slow burn,” these two have to sneak around so much and they almost always get caught. So the spice isn’t quite as common as one might think for a book titled “Mountain Daddy.”

Speaking of Daddy… the daddy vibes are vibing SO HARD in this book. Holy moly. Obsessed. Give it all to me. It’s clear and obvious what the kink is here for these two.

Talk. About. Banter. Luther and Kendra are so quip-y at each other (is quipy a word?). Both of them are into the other. Both of them want to be together regardless of the challenges. Both of them are funny and sassy. Truly, it felt like soulmates finally meeting one another. They were meant for each other.

It was really nice reading a best friend’s dad romance where the MMC wasn’t crying about “We can’t do this!” or “I want you but get away from me!” or “I”m into you but I won’t let myself have you!” Nope. Luther was all man by being all in with Kendra and giving her what the both of them wanted.

On the note of Luther being a glorious man specimen, Kendra was 32 in this book. I loved her maturity and attitude towards the whole relationship just as much as Luther’s. Sometimes in this trope it’s all too easy for an author to have a 22-year-old with a 46-year-old, which just results in the younger being immature and the elder feeling yucky. This one had two mature MCs that both let themselves want each other and that’s what made it so great to read.

Even the dad they were trying to sneak around was a really well-written character. He was a big part of the storyline not just to advance the MCs relationship and risk but on his own. Him and Luther’s interactions were their own sort of meaningful storyline as well as his relationship with Kendra. He reminded me of any nerdy, funny dad just living his life with the daughter he loves and hanging out with his best friend. Come to think of it, I might be a little bit in love with Kendra’s dad.

The whole book has a casual, funny vibe. All the characters worked well together, had chemistry, and contributed to the overall story. Every single aspect of this book was well though out, well-written, and well executed. Whatever the best rating is for this book, I give it. 5/5. 10/10. I’m obsessed with this book. It felt real and authentic while still contributing to my fantasy of this kind of trope.
