Ravaged Castle #3

By Amanda Richardson

*Can be read as a standalone*

TheStory

After the death of Elias, Liam’s best friend and Zoe’s father, Liam is given custody of 15-year-old Zoe. An intoxicated incident three years later leads to feelings Liam refuses to act on - while Zoe actively continues to pursue him. Coding in their grief and overcoming the plethora of struggles in having a relationship together, Liam and Zoe try to work their relationship out, hurdling the mountain of reasons why they shouldn’t be together.

TheReview

First and foremost, Liam is a sweet. baby. angel. What an annoyingly perfect (ish) gentleman.

Obviously, this type of relationship is a certain type of vibe and it might not be yours, so if it’s not, just don’t read it. With my ability to suspend some morals and realities along with the fact that Zoe was, in fact, 18-years-old when the relationship blossomed, I enjoyed the slightly grey area in this story.

I do concede that I had a bit of a problem with the fact that he raised her in the last of her teen years. It gave a bit of a “grooming” vibe, which I don’t care for but I just sort of overlooked that part because I enjoyed the rest of the storyline.

Liam seriously struggles with his feelings for Zoe and he truly tries so hard to stay away. But my goodness, his struggle lasts sooooooo long. Even after he (obviously) caves to his feelings, it goes on and on and ooooooon.

I found Zoe to be a good match for him given that she’s written with the emotional intelligence of someone much older than eighteen. I just didn’t like that he raised her for three years before that.

This one is much more heavily focused on the physical aspect of the relationship, as opposed to the other books in the series having a wider range of focus. While there is a deep connection and intimacy between them, it really is spice city. I’m not complaining (mostly) but it took away from the storyline a bit for me.

All in all, I did love the book, but it left a little something to be desired for me. I thought it would be my favorite in the series hands-down, but now I don’t think so. Still loved it and I do recommend it (just check yourself for yums and triggers), mostly because I found Liam to be a DREAM BOAT.
