Queens & Monsters #4

By J.T. Geissinger

*Can be read as a standalone*

TheStory

Spider agrees to an arranged marriage with a young woman from a rival crime family. Upon going to meet her, it’s her aunt that catches his eye.

Constantly thrown together but always at each others’ throats, the two end up in a different situation that neither of them expected.

TheReview

I was immediately hooked in the beginning. But then… I truly think Geissinger did Spider DIRTY in this book!

First off, he was such a baby angel in the last books! And now is just all of the sudden an absolute DICK.

Second, this book was supposed to heal my heart and it DIDN’T.

Third, I just don’t buy the chemistry between Spider and Reyna.

It’s weird. Like Lilly hardly exists in the story. Spider and Reyna get randomly thrown together in the oddest of circumstances. It’s soooo repetitive. Lilly doesn’t want the marriage. Lilly loves someone else. Rey is mean. Then she’s turned on. Spider hates her. But he wants her. And all that goes round and round and round and round.

Once the wedding happens, it does get wild and occasionally interesting (but also weird and sometimes doesn’t track).

I like Spider better after the wedding but Rey is still meh to me through the whole book. We love a boss girl but she just had no personality to me. Not a real one anyway.

This book was my least favorite of them all. And I LOVED the other ones. I was fully prepared for Spider’s story to be my favorite of them all. But it all fell so flat. It was an OK read but the storyline and the characters left so much to be desired.
