The Binding Chronicles #1

By Elayna R. Gallea

TheStory

Luna is sold off by her kingdom to an arranged marriage with the Prince of Darkness, a vampire by the name of Sebastian who rules the neighbouring kingdom under Queen Marguerite. When Sebastian is ordered by the queen to Bind himself to Luna, he agrees.

When their Binding Ceremony goes sideways, Sebastian and Luna become magically Tethered. Now, the two of them can never leave one another’s presence, so they must learn to live with each other, or die. Although the relationship starts off as something neither of them wanted, they quickly become allies. While navigating their situation together, they grow and learn about love and acceptance.

TheReview

What a solid love story. Everything about Sebastian and Luna’s relationship just flowed so well. There isn’t much to note of it - just a couple forced together, trying to find a way to live in a situation they never planned for. It’s a great story about finding love in a land filled with enemies.

I’m always wary of vampire stories because they tend to be filled with so many nuances that they can be difficult to follow, especially if reading multiple different books about vampires with different traits depending on the world. However, this one was good and it was easy to follow.

For the most part, there isn’t a lot of “action.” I can’t stress enough the “love story” being the main aspect of the book. While there are trials and murders and enemies, the main focus is on their relationship growth.

You get a good look into their hearts and minds without all the whining and annoying blah blah blah. Luna isn’t misguided about her abilities or trying to play the savior (for the most part) nor is she “woe-is-me” all the time. Sebastian is all dark and tortured - of course - but he knows who he is and he’s okay with it.

I can’t really say it’s a “slow burn” because nothing really happens spiciness-wise but they are enemies at first. So it’s like enemies to lovers and it takes a while for them to learn to love each other.

It’s a great read if you want a love story with a skosh of flair. I have a feeling the next one will focus more on action, but we’ll see.
