Coraline has been rescued from the hands of an abusive human trafficker. While recovering in the hospital, Silas offers her his number to call if she ever needs a listening ear. Coraline, being fearful of everything and everyone, is reticent. After a fake marriage falls into their laps, Silas works with Coraline to help her navigate her fears.

To start off, in the beginning there are several time jumps that total about two years - from the time Coraline was rescued until the present day. While Coraline was working on healing in her own way, Silas was always available to lend a listening ear. Which she rarely used but still. After the two years, their lives are thrown together and the whole book is then about the after effects of that. 

Oh. My. Goodness. This whole entire love story is absolute FIRE. Every. Single. Moment. It’s all around a love story with some drama thrown in there for… well, for dramatic effect. Silas and Coraline gave me aaaaaaaall the butterflies. There were some cheesy moments, but I loved them so much that I could overlook those parts. 

I love a damaged, badass FMC and a silent, broody emo boy. Literally, there could not be a better combo. So of course, they are my favorite couple in the entire series. Their whole relationship is literally the focus of the entire book. And it is so beautiful. *sniff sniff*

It is not exactly “morally grey” but more like “morally BLACK.” The point of the dark morals is that the MCs come together in that darkness and accept each other. 

I cannot express enough how fantastic this book was. The entire series has been amazing but this book will live rent free in my head forever. This is in my top favorite books of all time.

For the series as a whole, there are definite triggers, so come prepared, but there is not anything sexually triggering on page (unless you have sex kink triggers, in which case, do the research). The series was phenomenal in all its dark romance glory. But The Oath We Give will forever hold a special place in my head above all the other ones.
