The Origin’s Daughter #3

By Alexandra St. Pierre

TheStory

After the ending of The Dominion of Sin, it is now Amon that has been captured. Raven and Rycon, and the rest of the group get to work trying to defeat Ash Nevra and get Amon back. During their quests, the group becomes even closer and knows that it is up to them to save Amon, defeat Ash Nevra, and rescue the realm.

But whom can this group trust in a land where friends are just as likely to turn enemy as enemies are to become friends? It will take the right people with the right motivation to be able to save everything.

TheReview

Nooooow… this final book. *phewf* The entire story takes place around the hunt to destroy Ash Nevra and Get Amon back from his captor. So, the main focus during these “goals” is the relationship building between our found family. The POV changes between a myriad of characters, showing how everyone is growing, changing, and loving one another.

That relationship building was EVERYTHING. I got the chills. I had tears in my eyes. I laughed out loud. Wow. I loved the vibes that this book gave off. It’s almost as though the storyline was just a way to show our characters building love, loyalty, trust, family, and understanding. Truly, that seemed like the point of the whole novel. Beautiful.

On the flip side of that beautiful story is Amon and Raven. Let’s talk about them. Their separation throughout the book was way long and drawn out. And the “physical pain” and emotional climate that Raven experienced from that was very intense. Which, thinking about it now, is probably why we had so many different POVs. We couldn’t have lived in Raven’s held this whole time. Nope.

I actually found the true heart of this book to be Rycon and Kasha, as opposed to Amon and Raven. Alongside the other relationship development, Rycon and Kasha were the best part of this whole book (and I liked the whole thing, so you know they were just extra dope).

I feel the need to mention some trigger warnings, while also not spoiling anything. There is a lot of torture and sexual assault although it is not described in detail. Most often, it is alluded to, happens off page, or describes the lead up but then fades out. Just a fair warning.

I loved this entire book. Reading it was such a joy. Originally, I thought the series was a duet, so I didn’t even want a third book but it was so worth being surprised by the fact. Highly recommend.
