Things We Never Got Over

Knockemout #1

TheStory

Running away from her problems, Naomi ends up in Knockemout, taking care of her 11 year old niece after her twin sister leaves the girl and steals Naomi’s car.

Knox winds up mixed up in Naomi’s life when he reluctantly helps her.

And then life takes all of them on a ride. But the past won’t stay buried and it might be too much for any of them to handle.

TheReview

Out of my 4/5 star rating, 1 of the stars was just for being freaking hilarious. This book slayed me.

The beginning was a little boring and a bit drawn out and the romance is a long time coming but oh man, did it make me laugh out loud.

Naomi is a little boring - the classic perfectionist, planner, clean freak, people pleaser, etc. Knox, while being a grumpy lone wolf, is a little childish. He reminds me of a sour patch kid - sour then sweet.

They are a little bit ridiculous and the relationship is shallow in the beginning but it gets deeper the further you read.

Both of their pasts are not addressed until right at the end.

I might have even rated the book 5 stars but the ending was really predictable and honestly, Knox and Naomi’s relationship was pretty anticlimactic. There was not nearly enough done to fix the damage, IMO. And the story just wasn’t as deep as it has the potential to be.

With all that out there, I did love the book as a whole. It was really funny and I kept wanting to read more. It’s a classic grumpy-sunshine romance with a kid thrown in the mix.

P.S. I am MOST excited for Lucien’s book 😜
