While in the Inked tattoo shop, Opal and her boyfriend Jeff get into it and she decides that she has had enough of his abuse. When he forcefully grabs her, Stone Gallo steps in and kicks him out. With nowhere to go, Opal is offered a place to stay that’s near where Stone lives.

The situation turns from rescue to roommates to something more. But with Opal’s past and Stone’s commitment issues, is their attraction to each other enough to overcome their issues and move forward?

To start off, the opening scene is so cheesy… but not in the worst way. Just in an obvious type of way. But it had to start somewhere and it’s a short book so, onward!

Because of the quick meet cute and the instalove, the book had a lot of room throughout the rest of it to focus on the fun parts, the family, the love, and the drama. Even though the two started off as a friendship, their relationship together was so sweet. It’s like neither of them knows (or will admit) what they want but every time they dig a little deeper, their relationship grows. It’s still slow to get to the actual romance part even though they were instantly into each other, and that is just adorable.

Opal hasn’t had anyone in her life since her parent’s death, so Stone and the Gallo family bring her so much happiness. It’s a bit of a heart jerker seeing Opal not believe that it will work out for her because in her past, it never has.

Basically, it’s just a sweet, slow ride along to their relationship. It’s not overly dramatic or anything. Each of the MCs is just working through their issues, having tough conversations, and trying to push past their self-imposed boundaries. It’s not one of the most interesting books of the series but I do love Opal and Stone.
