TheReview
I knew this series would only get better. Janie and Fox were fine and whatever but I am IN LOVE with Atlas and Ren.
So…
Ren is a heavier girl with Type 1 Diabetes. She is not at all self-deprecating - she’s confident and happy with herself. At least that’s what she thinks - what she considers to be “realistic” is really her being down on herself. But Atlas loves the day lights out of her and pulls into a brighter headspace about herself.
Atlas is all fun and games on the outside but he is truly damaged and broken on the inside. He’s forgetful, broody (on the inside), passionate, loving, and playful. Once he learns about Ren’s diabetes, he dives head first into learning all about it so that he can help her if she needs it. Ah! I love him.
Throughout the entire book, his nickname for her is “Princess.” Which whatever, pick any nickname you want. But he called her that nickname so so so much - almost constantly. While it did seem out of place sometimes, it didn’t annoy me like I thought it would. Normally, overusing a nickname drives me up the wall but it’s like he just couldn’t help it because he’s so obsessed with her. The sweetest.
As a couple, they are adorable. But both of them think they aren’t good enough for each other. Personally, I thought there were big drama opportunities missed (the ex, her parents, her brother). But instead of taking away from the story, it focused it more. The whole point was the two of them overcoming their own self-doubt and learning to love each other, but also learning how to love themselves.
Sweet. Loving. Cute ending. Nothing crazy. I’m in love with the both of them, their story, and officially - this series. I hope it just keeps getting better.
