TheStory

After a summer spent with her atrocious family and going through the motions of her arranged-marriage to her psychopathic fiance Rocco, Zoe returns for her second year at Kingmakers with her gentle sister Cat, who Rocco forced into Kingmakers in order to control Zoe better.

Although doing everything she can to avoid Rocco’s abuse, a fateful night has Zoe making a decision to be away from Rocco forever. When Miles interrupts her plans, Zoe finds solace in the last person she thought she ever would.

But Rocco is a psychopathic sadist hell-bent on keeping Zoe locked up with him forever. Miles’ and Zoe’s have plans for their lives but Rocco will forever remain a problem in their lives.

TheReview

I absolutely LOVE Miles and Zoe together. Rocco was an actual physically abusive partner. Awful. The scene in which Miles intervened had me sweating. Rocco was a legitimate monster with zero remorse or feelings about anyone or anything. Him and his little minions are literal demons.

While Zoe was not weak by any means, she saw no way out of her arrangement with Rocco. 🎵In comes Miles🎵 He doesn’t save her necessarily but he gave her the space to help herself. The two of them worked together to save her from Rocco’s abuse.

Zoe was so sad and so stuck in her life, she just didn’t see any way out of her abuse. Between Rocco, her father, and her stepmother, she had no one to turn to, especially since she didn’t want to involve Cat, lest something bad happen to her, as well.

Miles seemed all cocky and laid back but he was actually very smart. He was intuitive and resourceful. The perfect man that Zoe needed, given her situation. He was a good guy that just hadn’t found reason enough to care too much for others… until he found Zoe.

At one point near the end, there was a HUGE shock that I did not see coming, but maybe I should have. So pay attention when you read… because I was too wrapped up in the story to catch the surprise.

The writing in this one was soooo good. Lark had all the tools and she used them to their fullest potential. The plot was great. The storyline was so well-written. And the characters were some of my favorites that I’ve ever read.

What a happy and wonderful ending all around. We know these books are HEAs so it’s not a spoiler. The ending was wild and I absolutely loved it. Now, I’m off to Dean’s book, which I’m a little scared of. He’s been atrocious but I think he could be redeemed. I don’t know how anyone will beat Miles and Zoe, though…
