TheStory
Adrik and Sabrina reconnect after their meeting during the school year in which they went on a rescue mission for Adrik’s uncle. Adrik wants Sabrina in Moscow with him to help him build his empire. Sabrina is unsure - she’s wild and free. She doesn’t want to be tied down.
After deciding to follow Adrik to Russia with a promise of partnership in his empire, things don’t turn out exactly as she was told. Adrik is free with their relationship, which Sabrina loves. But he’s controlling with his empire, which leads Sabrina to feeling less like a partner and more like an employee.
TheReview
These. Two. Were. Fire.
Literally.
Both Sabrina and Adrik are so volatile, their tempers were super difficult to mesh. While their chemistry and obsession with each other was wonderful for them, their personalities were almost too similar to work. That was the most delicious tension. Just obsessed and then angry and then banging and then fighting and so on and so forth.
Ugh! Frustratingly wonderful to read.
Their relationship is fun, sexy, feisty, and very dirty.
Sabrina was wild and dramatic but she was also smart and good at reading people and calculating situations. So badass. No wonder she was such good friends with Nix in the last book.
Adrik was also wild but wonderfully ingenious and confident. He knew what he wanted and wasn’t afraid to go after it. Even if that meant pissing off Sabrina. He wanted her - he got her. He wanted to build an empire - he did it. Even with his ability to get what he wanted, he made some serious mistakes.
Can I also just mention… He is a bit of a dirty liar. Scheme-y. Although I think he lied to himself more than anyone else.
The story progression was really good. It was super dramatic. Up down up down up down. It was exhausting but in the best way. I loved reading all the drama, fighting, and screaming. Perfection.
Since Sabrina is in Adrik’s world in Russia, the side characters introduced here are all new from the previous books. They were amazing additions to the storyline.
~Side note~ I would love a book about Jasper.
The ending was horrifying and wild but ultimately satisfying. HEA of course but getting there was a JOURNEY! I don’t know that I buy how they got out of everything with all their enemies but whatever, I guess.
The whole book was still fire. I’m obsessed with these two. They may live in my head rent free forever… or at least for a while. I’m so happy Lark added one last book to this series. Sabrina and Adrik were the perfect characters to center this final book around.
