When Camille picks her out of control brother up from a party, they get stopped by the cops. Her brother has drugs on him so the cop makes a deal with Camille. Become a CI for him and he’ll keep her brother out of jail.

Nero is a mafia son with a chip on his shoulder, money to burn, and a different woman every night.

The two get tangled up together during an illegal street racing night. That night was fated and the two wind up in each other’s orbits whether they plan to or not. From two different worlds - Camille from the poor part of town and Nero from a family that practically runs Chicago - their relationship has more obstacles than not.

This story was so simple. It was a quick and easy read with the most lovable (and hateable) characters. It doesn’t have a ton of nuance, which makes it difficult to give it a detailed review. However! I do have a few details.

Let’s begin.

Camille is a QUEEN! She’s just a down to earth girl with no care about her status in life or how others perceive her. She’s loyal and caring but also extremely smart. The smarmy cop that makes her become his CI doesn’t intimidate her the way he wants to. She stands up for herself, her family, and Nero.

NERO!!! James. Dean. Looking. GOD. *Swoon.* He’s a feisty, angry man with energy to burn and a desire to get into anything that will give an adrenaline rush. The best adrenaline rush - Camille! He just wants to feel something. And Camille fulfills that need more than anything else.

On the most *BLECH* note - that stupid Office Shultz. Ugh. I could not stand him. He’s slimy and horrible. He preyed on Camille’s love and loyalty and then just didn’t give a flying rat’s ass what happened to her while she was his CI. He made me want to tear my hair out.

But! Camille’s brother that she saved from prison?! Basically, I want him to have his own book. Book gods, hear my prayers! I’m obsessed with him.

What all these characters got into together?! Just absolutely wild and crazy. Camille and Nero are perfect for each other. Camille always had a darker side. With Nero, she can actually explore it.

The whole story and the side characters worked so well to create an amazing story. I loved making my way through their journey with them.
